Gerektiğinde Uykusuz Kalmak Gerçekten Çok Özeldi.
Within the scope of the “Social Inclusion of Refugee Youth Throught Social Entrepreneurship” Erasmus+ Project, 12 participants, consisting of young people and youth workers, came together in Izmir-Tire. The participants, who came together for the project camp, entered into an intense working process in Izmir-Tire between 25 – 31 March. The participants, who wanted to write projects in certain fields because they thought that it could be a solution to social problems in general, first discussed the title of ‘Migration and Art’. In the camp where asylum seekers and local participants take place; It was emphasized that it is important to look at the phenomenon of migration from an artistic perspective, and that explaining migration with art can cause changes in the social base, especially in areas where there are negative situations against immigrants. In this context, the idea of a project in which the motto ‘art unites’ is dominant and cultures will get to know each other, was developed and put into writing. The second topic addressed by the participants was “Migration and Entrepreneurship”. The participants stated that emphasizing the social aspect of entrepreneurship is as important as an initiative, and that a project where women can be employed at the center is necessary; He underlined that it is important that such a project can bring about changes in the life of a person who is in a disadvantaged position. In this context, a project idea was developed in which women could not enter the business life due to their disadvantaged position in the centre, and it was also put into writing.Apart from this, the participants stated that something should be done about healthy living, because the level of awareness on this issue is not very high in the society. For this reason, the participants, who developed the idea of a project in which activities to increase the level of awareness about healthy living with experiential learning methods and researching different diets will be carried out, expressed that the implementation of this project is important. Another issue that the participants focused on was ecology. The participants, who stated that the natural balance of our world has deteriorated and this situation is reflected in our lives with its negative effects; He stated that this is a major global problem and that change is imperative as a solution to this problem. In this process of change, the participants emphasized that ‘we should start with ourselves’; He developed a project idea based on the idea of ’you change, your world will change’. It is also remarkable what the participants, who ended the camp with 5 project ideas in general, said about the camp:
“We had a full six-day project writing camp. I feel very lucky to be here today. Because being a part of this team, thinking about projects that will make people’s lives easier and staying awake when necessary for this was really special. Now when I encounter a problem, instead of being insensitive, I will act with the thought of how to find a solution. I think this was the biggest gain of this camp for me. Oh, and I have new friends. I have Syrian friends. I listened to them, they listened to me. I think it’s very important to take a step to meet. Because after meeting, real stories with sometimes sad and sometimes happy endings await. I’ve heard unique stories. I am really happy. A big thank you to everyone who organized this camp.”
“I didn’t think it would be this productive and fun for me the day I set off. Our word game, in which we asked what Arabic-Turkish words mean outside the project, was very good as well as the moments when we brainstormed in the project writing sections. I also learned new words. It was a very nice camp for us. Thank you very much.”
With their words, they expressed the gains of the project writing camp. In the Project Writing Camp; young people’s creative ideas, their sensitivity to social problems and their willingness to find solutions to these problems were of key importance in producing new projects. In this sense, the idea that the energy and bright ideas of young people can be solutions to social problems motivated young people to write new projects. Finally; Both refugees and local youth took part in the project writing camp, working together. He discussed the areas they saw as problems and wrote new projects that could be a solution to these areas. While writing the project, they divided the work and helped each other in the area where they were lacking. Thus, a working process with high social cohesion and solidarity took place.
