In the context of the “Social Inclusion of Refugee Youth Throught Social Entrepreneurship” Erasmus+ Project, our participants received important trainings in the field of ‘Social Entrepreneurship’; He held workshops with prominent names in this field. In these trainings they received: “What is Social Entrepreneurship? What are the essentials of social entrepreneurship? And what are the existing examples of social enterprises? He discussed his subjects in depth; they went through a long thinking process in the context of transforming this knowledge into projects. This thinking process finally ended with a great project idea. The idea of this project, where there will be asylum seekers and local women at its center, and these women will make amigurumi toys together, thus will contribute to both women’s employment and social cohesion; excited the audience. Refugee and local participants who expressed their project ideas also added that they found a name for their projects. The participants who named their project “Knitting For Hope”, that is, “Knitting for Hope”, were asked, “Why this name? When asked a question, their answer made them smile.
“Because women will weave their future with hope”…
The Knitting For Hope team; With their project ideas and the trainings they received, they were the first to go on this path; He found asylum seekers and local women in need of economic development and formed his team. After forming his team, he organized a long-term practical training program called ‘How to make Amigurumi toys?’ and this training program started to bear its first fruits after a long time. The women produced their first amigurumi toys as a result of the training they received. This meant that the first step for the Knitting For Hope project team was complete. In this context, what the Knitting For Hope project team said was important for the first step of the Knitting For Hope project.
As a result of the trainings we received from the “Social Inclusion of Refugee Youth Throught Social Entrepreneurship” Erasmus+ project, we thought we should do something. Our aim was to reduce the impact of existing problems, even a little bit, with the projects we will do. After going through a deep reflection process, it came to our mind that local and refugee women could work in a common environment and thus have the opportunity to get to know each other. How can we bring them together? After thinking about the subject, this amigurumi toy idea came up. In this environment where they would work together, they would both get to know each other and develop economically. Our other idea is; for every toy sold, an amigurumi toy was given to a child in need. In this context, we set out with these ideas and realized the first step of our project. We are very happy. There is a long road ahead of us.”
He expressed his happiness with his words. The Knitting For Hope project, which emerged as a wonderful output of the “Social Inclusion of Refugee Youth Throught Social Entrepreneurship” Erasmus+ project, continues to walk towards the future with hope.
